Sammie and I ran through an exercise this week to see how we could balance out our schedules and do more by doing less.
We started by listing out all the projects we wanted to accomplish. We used Charlie Gilkey’s method from Start Finishing. He describes a project as anything that takes time, energy and money.
This was a huge breakthrough for me because when I took time off work, I had a hard time thinking anything I was doing was important if it wasn’t attached to a dollar value. However, I had gone through a lot of major transitions as once. I moved across the country, left my job and moved in with my parents. None of those things were easy tasks and all took tons of time, energy and attention. I realized I wasn’t giving myself credit for these big tasks. So I was active and busy, but not focused on the things I wanted to focus on, which was OK.
This episode, Sammie and I discuss the idea of viewing your time and goals as “projects” and take a look at all the unfinished projects that are currently living in our head. Sammie has been dreaming of learning how to rollerskate and become one of those cool women who dance skates to Abba.
What projects are you tackling right now? Is there anything you’re thinking about taking off your plate? Let us know in the comments!
