128. Financial Freedom (While You're Still Working)
Set Boundaries with Your Work and Live in Alignment
Some people are ready to take the leap, leave their job and see where their life takes them. Others may be financially ready for financial freedom, but not ready to leave their job.
Maybe it’s because they are building wealth, taking care of other people or simply enjoying their job and aren’t ready to leave.

Sammie and I take a look at how you can experience financial freedom without leaving your job. Financial freedom is really about having the time to do the things you want and live in alignment. Whether or not you have a job isn’t the important part. However, a job can prevent you from doing those things.
We outlined a couple of ways to have financial freedom, even if you are still working a job.
One important thing is to set boundaries with your work. A simple task, but not always easy. However, if you give your best during your paid work hours, you can focus on enjoying your time away from work.
For some roles, this is really tough. Sammie works in healthcare and her day is booked down to the minute. When she comes home, she works on notes for her patients and it’s work she wants to do well because she is taking care of people’s health.
For me, I saw both companies I work for go through an “awakening” when it came to the hours of sales people. After a lawsuit, my first company decided that all sales people should be paid for every hour they worked. This meant our jobs had to be done within a traditional work day. This was great for me because I could focus on work during the day and after work, I was technically not allowed to look at my email or sales software without permission from my boss.
This can also include asking for non traditional work hours like working four days a week or working remote.
Another way to live a financially free life is to think of your day job as an angel investor for your side project or side hustle. Most projects take time to get off the ground. Maybe you want to dabble in an online class like the real estate course Sammie took. Doing this while you still have a job means you can start and explore projects while also using your consistent income to pay for it.
Finally, there are often skills and lessons we can learn at our job. Some companies even give their employees a learning stipend. You can use your time at your job to learn new things while also making money.
