An unexpected stage of building a wealthy spirit is deprogramming from the “corporate mindset” or “jobbie mindset.” We define a corporate mindset as this idea that productivity and value is tied to a paid salary or needs to fall under a 9-5, 40 hour work week.
When I left my job and took a sabbatical, initially, I felt as though I was lazy or undisciplined because I wasn’t working for 40 hours a week. I spent time on our podcast but it didn’t take seven full work days and I felt as though I should be replicating my work hours during my time off. I had to shift my mindset from a “corproate mindset” that overvalues productivity to one that focused on doing what made me happy.
Reprogramming Scripts:
My value is not based on my hours of productivity
Paid work does not define how diligent I am
It’s my life, and it’s my time

Really resonating with the segment on being programmed to earn time away from work... by working more. I felt so much guilt thinking about going on a sabbatical. But now I also feel guilty on my sabbatical if I don't work 40 hours a week on writing/painting/twitter/working towards my next JOB. Realizing this while listening to this episode was a huge "WTF?!" epiphany moment. Looking forward to coming back to this episode (semi-frequently) in the future to deprogram myself from that thinking. Thank you for helping me de-program!!!
PS: I'm sooooo here for the woo woo stuff!
